Cleveland rides Rounds to victory over Southern Tier, 4-1

The Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks relied on the sparkling performance of Alec Rounds in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Southern Tier Xpress.

Cleveland was sparked by Ryker Barber, who finished with one goal. Barber scored 18:31 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Cleveland. Tyler Dalton picked up the assist.

The Jr. Lumberjacks\’ penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Southern Tier power plays. Southern Tier was unable to stop Cleveland from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Lumberjacks eventually piled up 50 shots on goal.

Cleveland also got points from Dalton, who also registered one goal and two assists. Cleveland also had goals scored by Buddy Rose and Zack Mlady, who each put in one. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Mitch Renstrom, who had one and Patrick Briggs, who had three.

The Xpress stifled Cleveland\’s power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Southern Tier\’s offense operated below its season average. The Xpress put an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. Southern Tier forced the Jr. Lumberjacks goalie Rounds to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Rounds rejected 39 shots on goal for Cleveland. The Jr. Lumberjacks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cody Gibson recorded 46 saves for the Xpress. Southern Tier incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
