Joe Gerace tallied his first goal of the season, but the Southern Tier Xpress weren’t able to get anybody else in the goal scoring column and they dropped a 3-1 decision to the Lansing Wolves (7-11-1) in the North American Tier III Hockey League on Saturday night.
Gerace’s goal came early in the third period to slice the deficit to 2-1. Nick Wilcox earned an assist on the goal.
Lansing jumped out to 2-0 lead in the opening period on goals by Bear Ross, his third of the season, and Mike Schramm, his fourth of the year.
An insurance goal was scored by Lansing’s Mason Fitch in the third period. Ryan Weaver had two assists, and Brenden Fehlig and Michael Osinski one assist each for the Wolves.
Ryan Pascarella was in goal for the Xpress (7-12-1), and was very busy with 49 saves.
For Lansing, goalie Sean Finstrom had 21 saves in picking up the win.
The Xpress play Lansing again today at 12:30 p.m. before battling the Pittsburgh Vengeance at 8:30 p.m. on Friday at the Northwest Arena.
