Metro uses early goal to top Southern Tier, 3-1

Mathias Tellstrom gave Metro the lead in the first period, and Southern Tier was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 3-1.

Metro took over the lead for good with a goal by Tellstrom at 4:31 in the first period. Michael Tratar assisted on the tally.

Metro pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 26 penalty minutes.

Metro was paced by Graham Day, who tallied one goal. Day scored 13:38 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Metro. Jacob Drinkard provided the assist.

Metro excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Metro forced Southern Tier goalie Ryan Pascarella to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Metro also got a goal from Jason Newel as well. In addition, Metro received assists from Jacob Rutkoske, who had one and Kevin Shand, who had two.

Southern Tier was led by Justin Andriaccio, who scored the team\’s only goal. Andriaccio scored 2:18 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Metro. Luke Grossman picked up the assist.

Kameron Limburg made 22 saves for Metro on 23 shots. Metro registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Southern Tier\’s Pascarella stopped 39 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Southern Tier incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
