Arttu Rajamaki’s goal from Joshua Malin and Jacob St. Andre at 7:32 of the third period gave the Southern Tier Xpress a 3-2 lead over the Lockport Express en route to a 4-3 win in the NA3HL on Friday night at the Cornerstone Ice Arena.
Later, Joey Gerace scored from Cameron Trejchel and Malin for a goal at 15:26 to give the Xpress (7-10-1) a 4-2 edge.
Lockport (3-17-0) got within a goal at 4-3 when Aaron Shahin scored from Dominic Senese at 15:29 but the Xpress held on for the victory.
The teams were tied at 1-1 after the first period. Trejchel scored from Matthew Crosby and Santeri Rajakallio at 8:17 for the winners and it was answered by Senese from Jamestown-born Gibson Stuart at 13;33.
St. Andre converted a pass from Ty Rickabaigh at 3:26 of the second period to put the Xpress ahead, 2-1, but it was tied up again by the Express at 2-2 by Blake Bennett from Stuart and Andrew Logar at 1:40 of the third period.
Harrison Vangellow made 56 saves for the winners and Sam Fitzpatrick made 50 saves in a game that featured a combined 118 shots on goal.
The Xpress are home at Northwest Arena against the Pittsburgh Vengeance today at 5 p.m. before traveling to Pittsburgh for an 11:40 a.m. game on Sunday.
