The Southern Tier Xpress were able to carry a 1-0 lead into the third period, but unable to hold on in a 2-1 North American Tier III Hockey League East Division loss to the Lansing Wolves on Sunday.
The loss dropped the Xpress to 2-8-0 in their last 10 games and 7-14-0 overall.
Mickenzie Restle got Southern Tier on the board first in the second period when he scored a short-handed goal from Tristan Mock and Brian Grant at the 8:17 mark.
Xpress goaltender Ryan Pascarella took the loss, stopping all 25 shots he faced in the first two periods before Lansing solved him twice late.
The Wolves (8-11-1) tied the game at 13:57 of the third period when Michael Schramm scored his fifth of the season from Jacob Deratany and Blake Siewertsen. Lansing scored the winner with less than four minutes remaining as Brendan Smith scored his ninth from Mac Diver and Bear Ross on the power play.
Sean Finstrom earned the win in net, stopping 33 of the 34 Xpress shots he faced.
Southern Tier’s power play, which is second-to-last in the entire NA3HL at 9.2 percent, went 0 for 8 on the afternoon.
The Xpress return home for a Friday night game against the Pittsburgh Vengeance at Northwest Arena. The game will face-off shortly after the annual Christmas parade in downtown Jamestown.
