Toledo had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-3 win over Southern Tier.
Toledo got the win behind a great game by Isaiah Crawford, who had two goals and one assist. Crawford scored the first of his two goals at 12:22 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Toledo. Ricky Kwapich picked up the assist. Crawford\’s next tally made the score 5-2 Toledo with 6:46 left in the second period. Toledo had gotten the advantage when Southern Tier\’s Joshua Malin was sent off for tripping. Ben Hamilton assisted on the tally.
Toledo\’s offense rang up 48 shots on Southern Tier\’s net. Toledo\’s goal total was higher than its season average. Toledo averages 3.5 goals per game. Team\’s forwards weren\’t the only contributers offensively, and the team\’s defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.
Toledo also got points from Kwapich, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Austin Turner, who also had one goal and one assist. Nick Papandrea also scored for Toledo. In addition, Toledo received assists from David Bogart, who had one, Tyler Zalecki, who had two, and Dan Hudy, who had three.
Southern Tier was led by Kyler Chartier, who registered one goal and one assist. Chartier scored 13:14 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Toledo. Southern Tier also had goals scored by Curtis Carlson and Elijah Williams, who scored one goal each. More assists for Southern Tier came via Jake Andriaccio and Joseph Gerace, who contributed one each.
Cody Gibson rejected 20 shots on goal for Toledo. Toledo incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Ryan Pascarella made 42 saves for Southern Tier on 48 shots. Southern Tier incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
