After scoring no goals 24 hours earlier, the Southern Tier Xpress, came back with a vengeance against the Chicago Bulldogs by erupting for a dozen goals in the North American Tier III Hockey League Showcase on Saturday.
The Xpress (10-12-2) scored five goals in the first period and five more in the second stanza en route to a 12-2 win over the Bulldogs,
Ty Rickabaugh got it going by scoring from Joseph Gerace and Nicholas Martihn at 4:29. That was followed at 9:40 with Arttu Rajamalli scoring from Rickabaugh and Gerace. Jacob St. Andre scored unassisted at 14:56.
Chicago, which has a 1-23-1 record, broke into the scoring column when Harrison Bjorgo scored from Mitch Nevala at to cut the deficit to 4-1 at 17:10. The Xpress took a 5-1 lead when Rickabaugh scored from Gerace and Eric Schau at 18:54.
The second period belonged to the Xpress with five more goals.
Rajamaki scored from Devin Laird at 1:10 followed by Tristan Mock at 14:03 from Gerace and Grant Scharmer; Santeri Rajakallio tallied from Matthew Crosby and Cameron Trejchel at 14:56; Jacob Zwieg scored unassisted at 17:04; and Mock connected again from Rajamaki and St. Andre at 19:35 for a 10-1 margin.
George French tallied from Gerace at 15:45 and Joshua Malin scored from St. Andre and Eriq Schau at 16:07. In between the two Xpress goals, Mitch Nevala scored unassisted for Chicago at 15:45.
Harrison Vangellow saved 24 of 26 shots for the Xpress and Josh Cannon saved 32 of 44 shots in taking the defeat.
The Xpress complete their three-game schedule at 3:40 p.m. today when they battle the Louisiana Drillers.
