Led by Cameron Pries, the Southern Tier Xpress exploded for 10 goals in defeating the Wooster Oilers, 10-4, in the NA3 Hockey League Friday night.
Pries collected the hat trick as the Xpress (3-2-1) downed the Oilers (1-8-2) in the Eastern Division.
The Xpress built up a 4-0 lead in the first period with Pries scoring unassisted at 4:39 followed by Hunter Kepple unassisted at 10:47. Arttu Rajamaki tallied from Kepple and Joshua Malin at 13:50 and Cameron Trejchel scored from Bradley Delenko and Jacob St. Andre at 15:53.
In the second period, Jeremy Ross scored for Wooster at 2:19 and Joe Gerace matched that for the Xpress at 3:36 for a 5-1 Xpress lead. Nicholas Mooney scored from Tyler Kallay and Nicholas Stanko for Wooster at 6:20 followed by Luke Grossman scoring for the Xpress from St. Andre and Grant Scharmer at 15:15. The final goal of the stanza was by the Xpress’ Santen Rajakalio from Rajamaki and Delenko at 18:13.
Rajamaki scored from Kepple and Rajakalio at 11:20 of the third period as the Xpress extended their lead to 8-2.
Wooster then scored twice with Tim Orlosky from Nicholas Stanko and Trent Malnik) at 12:39 and Chris Hubbard from Joshua Bostic at 16:39.
Pries scored unassisted at 17:14 and Trejchel from Kepple at 17:39 to finish the scoring for the Xpress.
Vangellow Harrison was the winning goalie with 19 saves while Mike Hubbard and Creighton Furber had 30 saves in the loss.
The teams get together again at 7:45 p.m. today at the Alice Noble Ice Arena.
The next home game for the Xpress is Friday against West Michigan at 7 p.m. followed by a 5 p.m. Saturday contest against the same team at the Northwest Arena.
