The Southern Tier Xpress (7-11) bounced back from an from a loss to the Lansing Wolves on Friday with a 3-2 shootout win in the North American Tier 3 Hockey League on Saturday.
The Xpress, who lost to Lansing, 8-3, 24 hours earlier, held a 2-0 edge in the shootout en route to the victory over the Wolves (8-12-1) at the Summit Sports & Ice Complex.
Tom Muecke and Michael Keller scored for the winners in the shootout.
Mikenzie Restle got the scoring going for the Xpress by scoring his 11th goal from Pearson and Waltteri Makinen in the first period.
The Wolves’ Mac Diver tied it at 1-1 in the opening period from Noah Pipper and Justin Sill.
The Wolves took the lead at 2-1 in the second stanza as Jacob Redman connected from Brandon Ashley and Jacob Deratany.
Tristan Mock got the Xpress even at 2-2 on a power play from Keller and Nic Allen in the third stanza to send the game into a overtime where nobody scored to set up the shootout.
Ryan Pascarella made 44 saves for the win and Drake Deering had 28 saves in defeat.
The Xpress play the Wolves twice this weekend at the Northwest Arena — Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
