The Southern Tier Xpress (4-7-1) got off to a good start en route to beating the Lockport Express, 8-1, in the NA3HL on Friday night at Northwest Arena.
Three goals in the first period propelled the Xpress to an early lead and they coasted the rest of the way.
Bradley Delenko tallied the first goal at 6:17 from Luke Grossman and Cameron Pries. Shortly there after, Hunter Kepple made it 2-0 on assists from Daniel Smith and Calvin Tonzi at 7:35. There was no more scoring until 17:51 when Arttu Rajamaki scored for the Xpress from Santeri Rajakallio and Tristan Mock for a 3-0 lead.
In the second period, Delenko scored his second goal from Pries and Jacob St. Andre at 10:25 before Pries tallied unassisted at 13:32 for a 5-0 margin.
Lockport ended Ryan Pascarella’s shutout when Dominic Senese scored unassisted at 1:16 of the third period to slice the deficit to 5-1. The Xpress added three goals before the final buzzer. Rajakallio scored from Grossman at 5:03, Grossman scored from Pries and Delenko at 5:32 and Rajakallio scored again from Mock and Delenko at 7:55.
Pascarella made 24 saves for the Xpress while Sam Fitzpatrick was very busy with 50 saves for Lockport.
The teams combined for 26 penalties, which totaled 112 minutes.
The Xpress are back in action at Northwest Arena today when the Roc City Royals pay a visit.
