Xpress Take Early Lead, But Can’t Hold It, Fall 5-2

The Southern Tier Xpress led 2-1 after the first period of Sunday’s North American Tier III Hockey League game, but Pittsburgh tallied three goals in the second period and one more in the third to post a 5-2 come-from-behind victory.

The loss, the second in as many days, dropped the Xpress’ record to 3-3 on the season.

Thomas Polster and Simon Soderberg each had a goal and an assist while Justin Bioni added a pair of assists to highlight the Vengeance’s attack. Dominick Glavach, James Unger and Justin Shepherd also found the back of the net in support of winning goalie Joel DeSimone, who made 31 saves. Anthony Bates, Nick Erker and Benjamin Oslick also had an assist.

Tristan Mock and Michael Keller had first-period goals for Southern Tier. Nick Wilcox, Michael Lamison, Ty Rickabaugh and Nic Allen were credited with assists.

Ryan Pascarella made 40 saves for the Xpress.
